Training Day Gym Members Covid Reopening Guide

INTRODUCTION

To ensure the health and safety of our community, Training Day Gym has developed new in club occupational policies and practices in line with the frameworks and recommendations of Safe Work Australia and Fitness Australia.

The key main areas below have been implemented in order to reduce the exposure and therefore transmission of COVID-19 within the workplace and community.

Please ensure that you read the following guidelines prior to coming in to train:

  1. Zoning & Physical Distancing

  2. Hand Hygiene

  3. Cleaning

  4. Infection control

  5. Symptom monitoring

  6. Contact Tracing

  7. Communication Correspondence

1. ZONING & PHYSICAL DISTANCING

1.1 ZONING  (CLUB ZONE MAPS CAN BE FOUND AT BOTTOM OF THIS TEXT)

As recommended by the Department of Health & Safety, the gym floor of Burwood and Clayton have been divided into 3 zones with sectioned off walkways.

  • Each zone has a maximum person limit that members need to abide to

·         If the zone has reached its maximum person limit, members must wait until someone exits, in order to enter

  • Zones have specific entry points that you must enter from

  • Sectioned off walkways are not to be used as training space

  • A one-way direction of the walkways upon entry and exit of the gym is to be followed

The limit of the number of people Training Day allows to access our facilities will change in accordance to government guideline changes.

1.2 Physical Distancing of 1.5 metres

Members and staff are encouraged to maintain a 1.5m distance between each other at all times. Members are also encouraged to maintain the same distance between them and other members during their time within the facility.

Reminders of physical distancing through posters have been put up around the club. In addition, stickers on the floor are also in place to encourage social distancing at reception and in the change rooms.

1.3 Structural Changes to Maintain 1.5m Distancing

Equipment throughout both clubs have been sufficiently spaced out to support physical distancing. Equipment that cannot be moved due to lack of space is listed as “Out of Order” until physical distancing recommendations change.

1.4 Group Fitness Classes

Group Fitness Instructors are encouraged to maintain 1.5 metre distance between them and members.

Visual markings on the floor are used to zone each person and their equipment set up in order to maintain the 1.5 m distance during class.

The sharing of equipment has also been restricted, therefore members are encouraged to bring their own equipment to use such as mats, or thoroughly disinfect any other used equipment after the class.

2. HAND HYGIENE

2.1 Hygiene Stations & Reminders

Hand sanitizer stations have been set up at reception, and at various points in the gym. Hand hygiene posters have been put up in various places around the gym as a reminder for members and staff to be diligent in their own hand hygiene.

2.2 Hygiene Requirements for Members

All members are required to use a towel during their workouts. Towels are available for purchase at reception for $5 if needed. Please be respectful and mindful of sanitizing your equipment after use during your workout!

The number of people permitted to attend a Group Fitness class have been limited to fit within Fitness Australia recommendations and Government guidelines. To attend a group class, this is also organized via the online booking system.

3. CLEANING

3.1 Cleaning Roster & Checklist

Staff are abiding to the Daily Cleaning Roster and Checklist each shift. During Stage 2, between each 90 minute training block, staff will disinfect and clean the gym equipment and space before the next session. After Stage 2, regular cleaning of equipment will continue to be maintained each shift by staff. Monitoring of cleaning will be documented in our Daily Cleaning Roster & Checklist.

3.2 Cleaning Supplies

All disinfectant supplies used meet the requirements set by the Department of Health and Human Services.

Disposable paper towels dispensers are available throughout the club for members to use to clean their equipment. An adequate supply of disinfecting solutions are also available at these stations. Gloves are available for staff and members to use if they wish.

3.3 Restricting Extra Facilities

Unfortunately, the infrared saunas and recovery boots service in both clubs have been temporarily closed until jurisdictions allow.

We encourage our members to shower at home instead of in our facilities if possible. Communal water fountains have been closed off at both clubs until jurisdictions allow.

Please remember to bring your own water bottles, otherwise there is water available to purchase also.

Communal boxing equipment such as gloves and pads have also been temporarily restricted.

4. INFECTION CONTROL

To ensure we deliver quality hygiene practices, every Training Day Gym staff member has completed the COVID-19 Infection Control online module recommended by the Australian Department of Health.

As well as this, Staff training specific to the clubs’ infection control standards, expectations and duties have been provided to all operations staff to ensure a high level of infection control practices is maintained during opening.

5. SYMPTOM MONITORING

Temperature guns are available at both clubs for staff to use before their shifts, and also available for any members who wish to check their temperature before training.

Any staff or member who exhibits signs of illness will be politely asked to leave the facility.

Any staff who are sick are encouraged to seek medical guidance, and stay home and strictly follow medical advice.

6. CONTACT TRACING

As we are required to have an effective contact tracing strategy, mandatory key fob sign in upon each visit will be required.

Upon the sign in, members’ contact details will be checked and updated by staff to ensure all information is up to date.

Mandatory details include First and Last name, phone number, residential address and email address.

Non-members are required to show their ID and fill in our casual entry form upon arrival.

7. COMMUNICATION CORRESPONDENCE

Any hygiene, safety and restriction updates are communicated to members via our social media platforms and in our weekly email newsletters. Frequently Asked Questions and answers can be found on our website
